Since its creation in 2003, NHS Elect’s aim has been to encourage innovation and best practice across its network and ensure the continuing success of members in the evolving NHS market. We work with our members to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery, create a strong culture of marketing, realise benefits from new models of healthcare provision and improve commissioning, particularly in partnership with other sectors.
Creating a culture of continuous improvement. NHS Elect was founded by Lord Darzi and four NHS CEOs to support the transformation of elective care delivery. The network has grown and evolved each year to meet its members’ changing needs but the aim has remained the same: the transformation of service delivery and commissioning. An international study tour to stimulate new thinking and see good practice in action forms part of this.
Putting policy into practice. NHS Elect has a service level agreement with the Department of Health’s 18 Week programme and works with members to ensure their services respond to this and other policy imperatives such as patient choice and plurality.
Sharing innovation and good practice. As a network, we place a strong emphasis on not reinventing the wheel. Where one of our thirty members has experience, we share the learning with the rest of the network through an extensive programme of network events. This means that our members can implement change more quickly, effectively and efficiently.
Responding to your specific organisational needs. The central team is made up of experienced NHS managers who understand you and the needs of your particular organisation.
Continuity. NHS Elect’s work with you is not a one-off. Our work with you does not stop with the delivery of a report but will progress the work with you for as long as is needed.
Forging strong alliances. We provide high quality advice and an extensive training and development programme based on emerging thinking from the Department of Health and other partner organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
