Our Programme – Study Tours
NHS Elect regularly organises study trips abroad to see a foreign healthcare system in action and transfer good practice back to the NHS.
Following the success of our previous study tours and the benefit our members have derived from them, we have organised a trip to Berlin in September 2008.
The Germany Trip will provide an overview of the national healthcare system with a particular focus on looking at the polyclinic model championed by Lord Darzi in his recent reviews.

As part of the NHS Elect Membership, your organisation can apply for free place on this study tour.
Past trips have included:
USA East Coast – New York – October 2007
This trip focused on orthopaedics and operating room management, looking at enhancing key service areas critical to creating a centre of excellence. The group were also exposed to US approaches to business development and marketing. Learn more in our Members Area.
Netherlands – Amsterdam – June 2007
This trip visited a range of healthcare facilities delivering excellent, innovative elective and emergency care which blurred the boundaries between primary and secondary care. In addition, the group gained a broad overview of how the Dutch system functions, identifying points of learning on the similarities and differences between it and the UK model. Summary reports for all our previous study tours and packs of information received by the attendees during the trip are freely available for download within the Members Area of this website.
