Case Study: Risk Management for Acute Trusts
We developed a risk management system for an acute trust member who wanted a comprehensive system for identifying and managing both corporate and clinical risks to the organisation, and linking this to business planning and an Assurance Framework to ensure that these risks were appropriately highlighted and managed by the Executive Team and the Board.
The process included:
- A new quantification for risk scoring to aid consistency of reporting of risks
- A new methodology for incorporating an assessment of mitigation of each risk
- Clarification on the roles of the Board Committees providing assurance on the handling of risk
- A methodology for the comprehensive identification of risks within the organisation
- A framework to link risks identified to the business planning process
